Every week, a dozen new cases of "Mad Cow's Disease" are still detected, each time leading to the slaughter of the entire herd. The breeder has no say in the application of this measure of hygiene. Tens of thousands of cows have thus been eliminated.

People are starting to speak out against this policy of systematic slaughter, unique in Europe. Among them is Alain Crézé, a breeder in the Côtes d'Armor region. When one of his cows died of BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy), he decided to oppose the slaughter of his herd. For a year, he has been a resistant.

We followed the chain from breeder to slaughterhouse, questioned researchers in their laboratories and consulted experts' studies: there is no scientific reason to continue practicing the total slaughter of herds. Particularly given that no cow that ends up on our tables can avoid a BSE test. So why do authorities keep doing it?
