2009: the average French citizen lives in the suburbs and drives about 30 km per day. He takes the fast train once a month and a plane once every two years. In all, he covers a daily average of 45 km.

1960: his grandfather, a farmer, lived and worked his entire life on the farm. Twice a week, he would drive to the neighbouring village. He took the train once a year and never took a plane in his life. His daily average was 5 kilometers.
In two generations, the distance travelled by an average French citizen has been multiplied by nine.

2040: Will mobility continue to rise at the same rate? The greenhouse effect and telecommunications could revolutionize our means, time and modes of transport.

These are the questions this film takes a lighthearted look at and explores solutions to, based on the most serious studies and future prospectives.
