Pariscience 2013 is coming soon !

9th edition of Pariscience Film Festival : 3-8 October, 2013 at the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris, Institut Physique du Globe de Paris and Université Pierre et Marie Curie.

 

Since 2005, Pariscience has become an unmissable event for those passionate about film and science. Each year, the festival presents the best of French and international scientific films.

In 2013, the festival is presenting around 50 films tackling all scientific, technical and environmental issues from astronomy to sustainable development and encompassing life sciences, chemistry and physics. The screenings will be followed by Q and As with the film crews (author, director, producer) and science experts.

The 2013 Grand Jury will be presided by :

Stelle Baruk,  Mathematics Professor and researcher in pedagogy

She will be joined by :

Silvia Casalino, aeronautical engineer, project manager at the CNES (Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales)
Vincent Amouroux, Author-filmmaker
Blanche Guichou, Producer at AGAT Films & Cie / Ex Nihilo
Mathieu Vidard, Producer – Presenter of the programme « La tête au carré » on France Inter

The programme this year includes :

• An opening ceremony on Thursday 3 October with the premiere screening of the feature-length documentary « Comment j'ai détesté les maths' » by Olivier Peyon

Over 100 French and foreign guest speakers (filmmakers, producers, scientists)

Two special debate sessions on « science / society » :

« Science babies : what are the limits ? »

and « Man enhanced by robotics »

• A session for professionals from the science audiovisual sector organised by the Scam

• A closing awards ceremony on 8 October

 

What's new in 2013 :

• A film – concert « Notre Siècle » (Our Century) as part of the Nuit Blanche (All-nighter) on Saturday 5 October

• The rewarded films will be screened on Saturday 12 October at the Institut Physique du Globe in Paris as part of the « Fête de la Science » (Celebration of Science)
