How close are dolphins to mankind?

The dolphin is one of the world’s oldest mammals. Since antiquity, the dolphin has been a source of fascination for humans, by virtue of its behaviour and its intelligence. The dolphin’s amazing abilities have astounded more than a few scientists and a real cult has been developed around this animal. Among the most highly evolved animals on Earth, dolphins are endowed with sophisticated means of communication and their behaviours and social organisation incite our curiosity.

Thanks to the latest technologies of scientific imaging and the contributions of specialists, our documentary offers an opportunity to plunge into the fascinating world of dolphins and to reveal a number of their mysterious secrets. How do these mammals attain a speed of almost 50 km/h underwater without creating the slightest turbulence? What is the significance of their whistling? On what model is their complex social structure based? How do they perceive the world with their sonar?

This film provides answers to these questions, demonstrating that dolphins have abilities and a mode of living that were once believed to be unique to humans.
