This film follows the life and discoveries of the great scientist, as he works alongside his wife Marie and other close collaborators. We relive the adventure-packed life of a man who was raised in the Napoleonic spirit, by an old-guard soldier father who taught him to never surrender.

Pasteur was a mad scientist who invented the most unlikely machines and climbed the highest mountains, to capture the microbes swarming around in the air. He was a brilliant orator who butted heads with the scientists of his time, laid low his detractors with cutting comebacks, and won over the masses with his masterful experiments. He was a schemer who got caught up in the splendor and pomp of the Second Empire, yet successfully drew upon it to support his research. To win his war on microbes, Pasteur needed courage, imagination and luck: the basic ingredients of both great discoveries and compelling stories.
