They are everywhere. Be it in your home, cafeteria or favorite restaurant, processed foods fill your plates. Faced with obesity, diabetes, heart disease and dulled taste buds through flavor enhancers straight out of Soylent Green, the public is left with no choice. Unless it goes on hunger strike. Over the past 50 years, the food industry has been sitting at our tables. And it has been feasting. Showing indulgence or complacency towards this takeover, national authorities exert limited and ex post control over a growing mountain of overly fat, sweetened or salted groceries. The food industry has been given a blank cheque and public health has paid the price ever since. Say goodbye to your grannies tasty recipes. It's time to go through these (ch)eaters' back kitchens.
